Why I built Money Mastery Institute

I knew early on that I didn't want to trade time for money. So I built something. For over 30 years I ran a successful landscape construction company — made money, enjoyed a good lifestyle, provided for my family. By every visible measure, things looked good.

But nobody ever taught me the money game. Not really. I was earning — but I wasn't building. I didn't put money away for retirement. And before I knew it, I was at retirement age with nothing stored up to show for three decades of hard work. That was a hard moment to face.

In 2015, I got an opportunity to go into sales — traveling city to city for two years, selling a product that ranged from $20,000 to $50,000. Good money. Good people. But what struck me most wasn't the sales. It was the stories.

Everywhere I went, I heard the same thing. People living good lifestyles — nice houses, nice cars, good jobs — but they weren't saving. They weren't investing. They had no real financial foundation underneath all of it.

To my surprise, it didn't matter where I was or who I was talking to. The story was always the same: earning, but not building.

After I left that company, I was looking for something more. Then I attended a seminar for entrepreneurs, and the speaker said something that stopped me cold:

"Solve the biggest problem you can, and you will be successful."

That was my aha moment. I had spent two years listening to hundreds of people share the same financial struggle. I had lived that struggle myself. And I realized — nobody was teaching this. Nobody was giving everyday people the real roadmap to financial freedom.

So I started my podcast. Then spent two years researching, interviewing, and digging into the real reason Americans struggle with money. What I found confirmed everything: there was no single place where everyday people could learn the fundamentals of financial literacy — not in a complete, step-by-step system built for real life.

So I built it. That's how Money Mastery Institute was born — a complete ecosystem to learn the fundamentals of financial literacy and follow a clear roadmap, from wherever you are right now, all the way to your Lifestyle by Design.
